Last updated 7 September 2026

A yacht proposal in Cabo is a private charter from Cabo San Lucas marina that runs out past Lands End and El Arco, holds position for the proposal, and returns at sunset. Cabo Proposals styles the deck, boards live mariachi and a photographer, and times the moment to the light. Our most booked package is the Sunset Cruise Proposal on a 65ft Sea Ray, with decor, music, dinner and drinks included.

The yacht is the only Cabo proposal setting where nobody can walk into the shot. No other couples, no vendors on the sand, no restaurant at the next table. The boat is yours, the crew works to your schedule, and the most photographed rock formation in Mexico sits behind you the entire time.

The package

The Sunset Cruise Proposal

She thinks you booked a sunset cruise. Everything else is ours.

Our most booked package. A private 65ft Sea Ray for the two of you. A heart setup on the dock, mariachi playing as you walk down it, the deck already styled, the question at golden hour, then dinner and the sunset as an engaged couple. From 2,350 USD all inclusive.

The walk down the dock

You tell her it is a sunset cruise. Nothing about the evening contradicts that: no restaurant reservation to explain, no reason for her to be suspicious about what you are wearing or where you are going.

The mariachi start playing

The moment the two of you come into view on the dock, the mariachi begin. This is usually where she works out that something is happening, and it is the reason people cry before they have even reached the boat.

On board and out of the marina

The mariachi board with you and keep playing. The deck is already styled with florals, petals and the sign. Drinks are served as the boat pulls out past the marina and runs toward Lands End.

The question, at golden hour

The captain holds position with El Arco framed behind you. The music stops. The crew disappears. You have the deck to yourselves and the light is at its best.

Dinner, as an engaged couple

Dinner is served on board and you watch the sun go down engaged. The run back into the marina happens after dark, with the town lit up ahead of you.

Price

Two hours

$2,350

USD, all inclusive, for two

The full package. Enough time to run out to El Arco, propose at golden hour and have dinner on the way back.

Three hours

$2,750

USD, all inclusive, for two

One extra hour on the water. Worth it if you want to swim before the proposal or linger over dinner rather than watch the clock.

Working to a number

Tell us your budget and we will build around it

The Sunset Cruise Proposal is our most booked package, not our only one. If the figure above is more than you had in mind, say what you can spend and we will come back with what it actually buys.

That might be the trimaran at 1,499 USD or the catamaran at 1,950 USD instead of the Sea Ray, a shorter time on the water, or a bundle that pairs a beach or dinner setup with the cruise so the money stretches further. We will also tell you honestly when a beach setup would give you a better moment than a yacht for the same spend.

Why we can bundle

We run our own yacht company

The boats are not booked through a third party and marked up. We charter them ourselves, which is the only reason we can put the decor, the mariachi, the dinner and the photography into one fixed price instead of quoting each piece separately.

It also means we can bundle. If you want more time on the water, a bigger boat, or a bachelorette day added either side of the proposal, we build it as one booking rather than sending you to three companies.

The Catamaran Proposal

The same package on a private 35ft catamaran instead of the Sea Ray. 1,950 USD for two guests, all inclusive, over three hours. A wider, flatter deck, shade over the seating and the water close enough to swim from, which the Sea Ray does not offer.

It is the more relaxed of the two. The catamaran sits low and steady, so it suits anyone nervous on the water, and there is time in three hours to swim or snorkel before the proposal rather than going straight out and straight back.

The bundle is identical to the Sea Ray package: the heart setup on the dock, full deck decor, an hour of live mariachi, dinner and drinks for two, a bottle of champagne and the photography package.

Price
1,950 USD for two guests
Duration
Three hours

Whale season. Humpbacks pass Cabo roughly December through April. On a three hour charter in those months you have a real chance of seeing them, which is not something we can promise but is worth knowing when you pick your dates.

Best value

The third option

The Trimaran Proposal

The most affordable way to propose on the water in Cabo, and the longest time out there.

A private 25ft trimaran for three and a half hours at 1,499 USD for two. A floral arch is built on the dock so you propose before boarding, then you are on the water with an open bar, food and snorkelling gear. The trimaran sits closest to the water of any boat we use.

What is included

Arch setup on the dock
A floral arch built at the dock so the proposal happens before you board, with rose petals laid out around it.
Florals
A flower arrangement, a dozen roses, a bouquet and rose petals.
Open bar
Jose Cuervo tequila, Bacardi rum, Kirkland vodka, gin, national beer, margaritas, mixers and juices.
Food on board
Three signature super burritos, a shrimp cocktail and 500 grams of fresh guacamole with tortilla chips. Full menu below.
On the water
Three and a half hours, with snorkelling gear and a floating water mat on board.

The route

How the charter actually runs

Board at the marina

You arrive at Cabo San Lucas marina on a cover story. The deck is already styled, the champagne is on ice and the photographer is on board as part of the crew.

Out to Lands End

The boat runs past the marina, along the cliffs, out to Lands End, the sea lion colony and El Arco. Roughly twenty five minutes, most of it spent on deck.

Hold position for the moment

The captain anchors or holds with El Arco framed behind you. Music cuts, the crew disappears, and you have the deck to yourself. This is the part everything else is built around.

Celebrate on the way back

Champagne, canapes or a full dinner service, portraits in the last of the light, and the run back into the marina after dark with the town lit up ahead of you.

Yacht deck styled for a proposal with Say Yes and Marry Me cushions, red roses, champagne on ice and rose petals

What is included

On board

  • Private charter. The whole boat, crewed, for your group only. No shared sunset cruise.
  • Deck styling. Florals, a sign or marquee letters, cushions, candles where conditions allow.
  • Champagne and catering. From canapes and a bottle on ice through to a full plated dinner on board.
  • Photography. A photographer on board from boarding through to the return leg.
  • Sunset timing. Departure calculated backward from the exact sunset time on your date.
  • Marina coordination. Slip, boarding, port paperwork and crew briefing all handled.

Add ons: a drone for the wide El Arco shot, a second boat for the exterior angle, live saxophone or violin on deck, a videographer, snorkelling before the proposal, and transport from your hotel to the marina.

Timing

Why the sunset charter is the one to book

Sunset charters are the most requested slot in Cabo and the first to sell out, particularly November through April. A sunset departure puts El Arco in warm side light for the proposal and gives you the return leg in the afterglow. Morning charters are calmer water but far flatter light.

If your dates are tight, book the boat before anything else. Restaurants can usually find a table. On a busy week in high season there is a finite number of hulls in the marina, and the good ones go first.

Pricing

What a yacht proposal costs

The Sunset Cruise Proposal on a private 65ft Sea Ray is 2,350 USD for two hours or 2,750 USD for three, both all inclusive for two people. That covers the charter, crew and fuel, the heart setup on the dock, the yacht decor, an hour of mariachi, dinner, drinks, champagne and the photography package.

Nothing is added on the day. If you want to bring guests, extend the charter further or add a videographer, drone or fireworks, we price that before you commit rather than after the moment has already happened.

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the Sunset Cruise Proposal package?

A private 65ft Sea Ray charter, a heart shaped setup on the dock before boarding, full yacht decor, one hour of live mariachi, dinner and drinks for two, a bottle of champagne or sparkling wine, and a photography package. Two hours is 2,350 USD and three hours is 2,750 USD, both all inclusive.

Can you decorate our hotel room while we are on the cruise?

Yes, it is a 250 USD add on. While you are out on the water we decorate your room with balloons, a lettered display, rose petal hearts and candles, arranged with your hotel or villa so it is ready before you get back. You return from the cruise engaged and walk straight into it.

How much does a yacht proposal in Cabo cost?

Our Sunset Cruise Proposal on a private 65ft Sea Ray is 2,350 USD for two hours or 2,750 USD for three hours. Both are all inclusive for two people, covering the private charter, the dock setup, yacht decor, mariachi, dinner, drinks, champagne and photography. There are no extras added on the day.

Can you propose on a yacht in Cabo?

Yes. A private charter leaves from Cabo San Lucas marina, runs out past Lands End and El Arco, and holds position while you propose. Because the boat is chartered privately, you control the route, the timing and who is on board. Most proposals happen on the return leg as the sun drops.

How long is a proposal charter?

Three hours is the usual length. That covers boarding at the marina, the run out to El Arco and Lands End, time on anchor for the proposal and photographs, and the return as the light goes. Longer charters of four to six hours suit couples adding dinner or a larger group.

What is the cheapest way to propose on a boat in Cabo?

Our trimaran package is 1,499 USD for two over three and a half hours. It includes a floral arch built on the dock so you propose before boarding, the florals, an open bar, food on board and snorkelling gear. Mariachi is 375 USD and photography is 275 USD on top, both optional.

Which boat should we choose for a proposal?

The 65ft Sea Ray is the most luxurious, with a salon and a private cabin below deck, from 2,350 USD for two hours. The 35ft catamaran is 1,950 USD over three hours, sits lower and steadier, and lets you swim before the proposal. The 25ft trimaran is 1,499 USD over three and a half hours and is the closest to the water. The Sea Ray and the catamaran include mariachi and photography, on the trimaran both are add ons.

What size yacht do we need for a proposal?

For two people a smaller yacht is more intimate and considerably cheaper. Larger boats make sense when you are bringing family or turning it into a celebration afterward. We match the boat to the group rather than upselling deck space you will not stand on.

Will I get seasick during the proposal?

The bay inside Lands End is normally sheltered and calm. Conditions past the point can be livelier, particularly in winter. If either of you is sensitive on the water we keep the route inside the bay and hold position in the calm, which still puts El Arco directly behind you.

Can we have the proposal photographed on the yacht?

Yes. A photographer boards with the crew and stays out of the way until the moment. On the water we also have the option of a second boat or a drone to catch the wide shot with El Arco and the yacht in one frame, which is not possible from on deck.

What happens if the sea is rough on our date?

The port captain closes the marina in bad conditions and no charter goes out. If that happens we move the proposal to a beach, villa or restaurant setup the same evening, using the backup plan agreed when you booked. You are not left with nothing.
