The main proposal locations in Los Cabos are El Arco at Lands End, Medano Beach and Playa Monumentos in Cabo San Lucas, 8 Cascadas, the Corridor beaches Chileno and Santa Maria, private villa beachfronts, and the garden settings inland from San Jose del Cabo. Each differs in access, privacy and setup scale.
Los Cabos is two towns roughly thirty kilometres apart joined by a corridor of resorts and beaches. Cabo San Lucas has the arch, the marina and the drama. San Jose del Cabo is quieter, greener and slower. Almost every proposal we plan sits somewhere on that line, and choosing the right point on it decides most of what follows.
The map
Cabo San Lucas sits at the western end, San Jose del Cabo at the eastern end, with the Tourist Corridor and its beaches in between.

Lands End and the arch
8 Cascadas
Beside Medano8 Cascadas is the beach directly beside Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas. It sits on the same bay with the same easy vehicle access, but carries far less foot traffic, no vendor line and none of the water sports noise. It is the quietest beach in Cabo San Lucas that still takes a full setup.
This is the beach we recommend most often. Couples arrive picturing Medano because it is the one they have heard of, and then choose this instead once they understand it is the same bay without the crowd. The setup can be as large as you like, because vehicles reach it, and nobody walks through the shot.

El Arco and Lands End
From the waterEl Arco is the rock arch at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific. You cannot stage a setup on the arch itself. Proposals happen from a private boat holding position with the arch framed directly behind you, which is the only way to get it into the shot properly.
From a chartered yacht this is the most controlled setting in Cabo. Nobody can walk into the frame, the crew works to your timing, and a drone can take the wide shot with the arch, the boat and the two of you in one image.

Medano Beach
Playa El MedanoMedano Beach is the main swimmable beach in Cabo San Lucas, running along the bay with El Arco visible at its southern end. It has vehicle access, which makes it the only public beach in Cabo where a full scale installation is practical.
It is also the busiest beach in Los Cabos, with restaurants, vendors and water sports along its length. We stage toward the quieter end and work late in the afternoon. If you want a big arch, a band and dinner afterward on a public beach, this is the one that allows it.

- Low, it is a busy public beach

- Yes, calm water
Playa Monumentos
Rock formationsPlaya Monumentos sits at the western edge of Cabo San Lucas, known for large rock formations and a strong surf break. It is a photography location rather than a swimming beach, with dramatic silhouettes at sunset.
The water here is not safe for swimming and the surf can reach the setup line, so we build back from the waterline and treat it as a scenic setting rather than a beach day. For couples who want something moodier than Medano, it delivers.

The Tourist Corridor
Between the two towns
Chileno Beach
Playa ChilenoChileno Beach is a sheltered blue flag bay on the Tourist Corridor, roughly midway between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. The water is calm and clear, and it is markedly quieter than Medano while still being reachable by car.
This is our usual recommendation for couples who want a real beach proposal without the crowd. It has facilities and parking, so the crew can bring in a proper setup, and the reef makes the water genuinely swimmable afterward.
- Access
- Vehicle, about 20 minutes from Cabo
- Privacy
- Good, quieter than Medano
- Setup scale
- Medium to full
- Swimming
- Yes, calm and clear
Santa Maria Beach
Playa Santa MariaSanta Maria Beach is a horseshoe shaped cove on the Corridor, protected on both sides by rock headlands. It is a snorkelling beach with calm water and a strong sense of enclosure, which makes a small setup feel private even though it is public.
The cove shape is the appeal. Because it is bounded by rock rather than open coastline, a proposal setup at one end reads as a private space in photographs. Access is a short walk from the parking area, so setups are medium sized.

Private villa beachfronts
Completely privateMany villas along the Corridor and on the Pacific side have private beach access or terraces directly above the water. Because the property is closed, there is no crowd and no possibility of a stranger in the photographs.
This is the answer when privacy outranks the postcard view. It also allows setups that a public beach never will: suspended florals, a styled infinity pool, a full dinner service and hidden family.

San Jose del Cabo and inland
Green, quiet and away from the ocean
The San Jose del Cabo valley
Gardens and palmsInland from San Jose del Cabo the landscape turns green. Palm groves, working farmland and garden settings sit twenty minutes from the coast, with no ocean in sight. It is the part of Los Cabos most visitors never see, and it suits couples who do not want a beach photograph.
We stage garden dinner setups here under string lights, with tables built among the planting. The light through the palms in the late afternoon is the best in Los Cabos, and because these settings are enclosed by greenery rather than open coastline, a small setup feels private without needing a private beach.

San Jose del Cabo town
Slower and quieterSan Jose del Cabo is the older and quieter of the two towns, about thirty kilometres east of Cabo San Lucas along the Tourist Corridor. It has a colonial centre, an art district and a calmer pace, with none of the marina noise of Cabo San Lucas.
Couples staying at the resorts on this side often prefer to propose nearby rather than drive west at sunset. The beaches here are less swimmable than Medano, so we usually pair a San Jose stay with a Corridor beach or an inland garden setting.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best place to propose in Cabo?
For the iconic backdrop, a private boat framed against El Arco. For a large styled setup, Medano Beach. For the strongest sunset light, Playa Monumentos. For dinner with a view, one of our terrace setups. For total privacy, a private villa or a Corridor beach. There is no single best location, only the one that matches whether you want scenery, scale or seclusion.
Where is El Arco and can you propose there?
El Arco is the rock arch at Lands End, the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula in Cabo San Lucas. You cannot stand on the arch itself, but you can propose from a private boat holding position with the arch framed behind you, or from Medano Beach looking south toward it.
Which Cabo beaches are safe to swim at?
Medano Beach, Chileno Beach and Santa Maria Beach are swimmable and generally calm. Divorce Beach and most of the Pacific side have a severe undertow and are not safe for swimming. This matters when a proposal involves getting into the water or standing near the surf line.
Is Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo better for a proposal?
Cabo San Lucas has El Arco, the marina and the busiest beaches, so it suits dramatic ocean settings. San Jose del Cabo is quieter and greener, with gardens, palm groves and the art district, so it suits couples who want a garden or desert setting instead of a beach.
Can we propose on the beach and have dinner the same evening?
Yes, and it is our most common pairing. The schedule runs proposal first at sunset, then a short drive to a dinner setup already styled and waiting. It works best when the dinner allows about ninety minutes of slack after the beach setup comes down.
How far apart are the locations?
Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo sit roughly thirty kilometres apart along the Tourist Corridor, about a thirty to forty minute drive. Chileno and Santa Maria fall between them. The garden settings are inland from San Jose del Cabo, adding fifteen to twenty minutes.
